Alan Herman President and Creative Director
Born and raised in New York, Alan graduated cum-laude from the highly-regarded Pratt Institute. After working as a creative director at leading design firms for several years, he established AH&A in 1970. Since then the firm has grown in stature and scope, and has become a nationally recognized provider of marketing communications. Clients span the gamut from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. AH&A has produced over 4000 projects including: strategic planning, advertising, product launches, sales collateral, trade shows, web sites and public relations. Alan is a recipient of over 100 industry awards, and is a frequent guest lecturer on the marketing field. He and his family are long-time residents of the Pasadena area.
Matt Herman Vice President of Strategic Planning/Senior Copywriter
Having grown up working in the family business, Matt is no stranger to marketing and advertising. After graduating magna cum laude from Washington & Lee University, he completed his M.B.A. with an emphasis in marketing at Pepperdine’s Graziadio School. Prior to joining the firm full-time, Matt worked as strategic planner for Nestle USA where he performed competitive analyses and provided acquisition and divestiture recommendations to top management. Matt is an accomplished musician/songwriter and frequently tours the U.S. with his band, Anglos.
Janet Roberts Marketing Director/Senior Copywriter
With over 25 of marketing experience in the engineering and software industries, Janet offers strong communication, strategic planning, and organizational skills in marketing communications and public relations for high-tech clients. Janet previously served as the Manager of Marketing Communications at the MicroSim Division of Cadence Software where she was responsible for strategic marketing planning as well as product and company positioning for a range of software products. Janet earned her Bachelor of Science degree in quantitative business analysis from the University of Southern California and pursued subsequent graduate studies in marketing communications and software engineering. Janet has been a key associate of AH&A for over 15 years.
Cris Dawson Associate Creative Director/Senior Graphic Designer
Cris Dawson has been an important part of the AH&A team for over 25 years. A former national skateboarding champion, Cris has the rare ability to both look at challenges on a conceptual level and then turn that conceptual thinking into stunning graphic executions. His work has been honored by Print Magazine and the LA Art Directors Club. Cris has more than 25 years experience in the graphic communications industry. He has led his own graphic design business, as well as worked in house for a number of studios and corporate organizations with international reputations. He holds a Master of Fine Arts and Design degree from the California Institute of the Arts. His undergraduate work was completed at the Chouinard Art Institute.
Don Snodgrass Production Manager
A native Californian, Don graduated from UCLA with a degree in Graphic Arts/Visual Communications. In his 20+ years with AH&A, he is proudest of bringing the company into the Digital Age. Don coordinates and oversees every project from start-to-finish, interfacing seamlessly with creative directors, art directors, staff designers, digital media artists, photographers and printers throughout a typical busy day. This attention to detail ensures absolute quality control and adherence to deadline for every project the firm undertakes.
